Deleted all the drivers and canon printer software, and then ran with troubleshoot compatibility. It gave a compatibility of windows 7 and installed it. I downloaded a new driver, supposedly for Windows 10, from the Canon website but the program still refuses to recognize the printer.

Printer was working after the update to win10, but stopped working after i installed the latest drivers from the canon site. Now installation fails as machine is not able to recognize the printer.

Method 2: I would suggest you to uninstall the Printer drivers and then try to install the drivers in Windows 8 compatibility mode to check if that works.
